Elite Sports Performance & Physical Therapy has been providing top-level sports performance training and physical therapy/injury rehabilitation services for more than 15 years. Founded in Stoughton, MA in 2001, Elite is owned and operated by certified Strength and Conditioning Coach, Peter Rappoli, and Physical Therapist, Keith Callanan.
We currently offer two convenient locations: Elite Sports Performance & Physical Therapy in Foxboro and Elite Health & Fitness Center in Stoughton. Elite’s combination of sports performance training, adult fitness programming, and physical therapy allows us offer our patients, clients, and athletes a wide array of training and health services in one convenient location. Our Foxboro facility is equipped with some of the most advanced tools for increasing speed, strength, power, agility and endurance, including the Woodway Force Treadmill, a ThoroTread Power treadmill, and Keiser Functional Training equipment. Our 4,000 square foot sports performance facility and physical therapy clinic are located inside Mass Premier Courts, New England’s largest indoor basketball facility. Mass Premier Courts is also home to RBI Baseball Academy, one of the premier baseball and softball training centers in the region.
Our trainers, strength & conditioning coaches, and physical therapists utilize our state-of-the-art equipment to help clients and patients restore and improve strength, increase flexibility, improve balance and dynamic stability, increase speed and agility, build explosive power, and optimize functional movement patterns. The versatile equipment and unique aspects of our facility afford our trainers and therapists a variety of options that keep our clients and patients motivated, challenged, and fully engaged. Why Train with Elite?
At Elite, we’ve worked with athletes, clients, and teams of all ages, from youth to professional and every level in between. Our highly-trained and experienced team of strength & conditioning specialists and sports performance coaches can design a program for you or your team that focuses on improving the most important attributes of athletic performance, including strength, speed, agility, and power.
Our trainers pay close attention to ensure our athletes use proper form and technique in an effort to maximize our athletes’ results while minimizing risk of injury. By teaching and emphasizing excellent form during training sessions, we also help our athletes improve the quality of their individual workouts.
We also have a passion for injury prevention and can perform pre-season injury risk assessments for athletes and clients, which include the Functional Movement Screen and Y-Balance Testing. These tests allow us to identify faulty movement patterns, asymmetries in strength and mobility, and deficits in dynamic balance and core stability. By utilizing the data from these tests, we can help predict which athletes are at a higher risk of injury and provide corrective exercises that could help reduce the risk of future injury.
Meet Our Team
Peter Rappoli, MS, CCS, CSCS
Co-Owner / Senior Director of Personal Training
Peter is a co-owner of Elite Sports, Inc. and co-founder of the nationally recognized Elite Sports Fitness Boot Camp program. Peter has worked with several of Boston’s most legendary athletes, including American League MVP, Mo Vaughn, and Olympic Gold Medalist, Jim Craig. He has also worked with major League Baseball All-Stars including a Boston Red Sox MVP. In addition to working closely with the training staff of both the Boston Red Sox and the Anaheim Angels, Peter was the strength and conditioning coach for the Mo Vaughn, Trot Nixon, Nomar Garciaparra and Jason Varitek Baseball Camps, as well as, Jim Craig’s Gold Medal Hockey School. He is currently the strength and conditioning coach for Dustin Pedroia’s Baseball Camp. Peter has worked as the strength and conditioning coach for Bryant University, Stonehill College and Suffolk University. Peter has over 20 years experience as a full-time personal trainer and holds a Master’s Degree in Nutrition from Huntington College of Health Sciences. He also has an Associate’s degree in Healthcare Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Health & Fitness. In addition, he holds a Career Diploma in both nutrition and fitness from Ashworth College. At Ashworth College he was awarded the DETC (Distance Education Training Council) Outstanding Graduate of the year award.
Peter is certified as a personal trainer through ACSM, NCSF, AFAA, FRA, NCCPT and IFA. He is board certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners, a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the NSCA and NSPA, and a certified TRX instructor. He is also a member of the NSCA and on the advisory board for the National Strength Professionals Association (NSPA).
Keith Callanan, PT, MPT, CSCS
Co-Owner of Elite Health and Fitness Center
Keith is co-owner of Elite Health & Fitness Center and co-founder of the nationally recognized Elite Sports Fitness Boot Camp program. Keith has over 16 years experience in the physical therapy and fitness industries. Keith earned his B.S. in Exercise Physiology from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, where he was also a collegiate athlete. Injuries sustained from football inspired to pursue his current career as a physical therapist. Keith received a Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from Old Dominion University. As a physical therapy student, Keith had the opportunity to work at Langley Air Force Base, collaborating with staff to discuss patient issues, as well as preparing rehabilitative exercise machines for patient use. Prior to founding Elite Health & Fitness in 2001, Keith worked as a physical therapist for the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts, as well as the Methodist Sports Medicine Center. He also had the unique opportunity to work under renowned knee surgeon, Dr. K.D. Shelbourne. As Director of Physical Therapy at Elite, Keith develops treatment plans while educating patients on its purpose and strategy to anticipate functional outcomes. He specializes in the treatment of the knee and is also the inventor of various biomechanical therapeutic devices used throughout the country today. Keith is certified as a Strength & Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA and is a member of the APTA and PTPN. One of Keith’s many accomplishments also includes running the Boston Marathon.
Ben Godin, PT, DPT, SCS
Clinic Manager – Foxboro, Physical Therapist, Board-Certified Sports Clinical Specialist
Ben joined the Elite team after completing his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Simmons College. He has experience in a wide variety of clinical settings, including clinical affiliations at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital, and Beverly Hospital’s Center for Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine. Prior to PT school, he earned his B.A. from Bates College, a certificate in health counseling from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and worked in business management. Ben has a strong clinical interest in sports injury and orthopedic rehabilitation and injury prevention. He is a Board-Certified Sports Clinical Specialist by the APTA, an active member of the APTA’s Sports Physical Therapy Section, and is passionate about helping his patients get back to doing what they love to do. In his free time, Ben enjoys running, biking, and spending time with his family.
Eric Farley, PT, MPT
Eric recently joined the Elite team and brings with him over 10 years of clinical experience in orthopedic and sports physical therapy, including advanced skills in biomechanical analysis, neuromuscular training, return-to-sport rehab, and manual therapy. His philosophy for physical therapy is that the whole body needs to move well and be supported properly; as a result, his treatment plans often incorporate full body exercise to restore ideal function.
Growing up in Connecticut, Eric played baseball and wrestled in high school. While pursuing his degrees in Physical Therapy at American International College, he continued his wrestling career as a member of the Division II AIC Yellow Jackets, where he was coached by multiple-time Olympians Anibal Nieves and Shirzad Ahmadi. From 2008-2013, Eric served as the Head Coach of the Mansfield High School Wrestling Team and has continued to assist both the youth and high school wrestling programs.
Stephanie Preve, PTA
Physical Therapist Assistant
Stephanie joins the Elite team after recently graduating with honors from Bay State College with an A.S Physical Therapy Assistant degree. She also holds a B.S. in Exercise Science from Elon University and has had great mentors throughout her schooling and internships at Elite, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Longmeadow of Taunton. Stephanie always knew she would end up in the PT field after being introduced to physical therapy at an early age due to her numerous gymnastics and sports injuries. She remains involved with the sport of gymnastics as the head coach of the Attleboro YMCA team. Outside of work, Stephanie participates in Crossfit and horseback riding. She looks forward to working with everyone at Elite and helping patients along their physical therapy journey
Mckenzie Miller, BS
Office Manager / Personal Trainer
Mckenzie joined the Elite team in September 2013. She received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Health & Exercise Science from Syracuse University. While attending college, Mckenzie showed her passion for the Orangemen by playing both co-ed intramural basketball and volleyball. Mckenzie has coached multiple AAU basketball teams. She has continued an active and healthy lifestyle since then by hiking, swimming and participating in local races. She has several years of experience as a Physical Therapy Aide and plans on continuing her education in the health and fitness field. She is currently working towards earning her CSCS certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Katie McCarthy, BS, CSCS
Assistant Manager of Personal Training / Front Office Administrative Assistant
Katie originally joined the Elite team as an intern in the summer of 2015. Since then, Katie finished school at Colby-Sawyer College and received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Exercise Science, as well as a coaching certificate. Katie was hired in May 2016 as a sport performance coach and physical therapy aide. Since then, she has transitioned to the Assistant Manager of Personal Training and Front Office Administrative Assistant. Katie played both soccer and basketball at Mansfield High School and was a four-year member of Colby-Sawyer’s Women’s Basketball team. She continues her love for the game through coaching both basketball and soccer at all age levels. Katie hopes to continue coaching while pursuing her career in Strength and Conditioning. Katie is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Ben Marsh, BS, Certified Personal Trainer (NCSF)
Sports Performance Coach/Personal Trainer
Ben recently joined the Elite team after obtaining his Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science at Bridgewater State University. A former soccer and track athlete, Ben's study of Exercise Science only fueled his love for sports and his passion for helping athletes develop into fast, strong, powerful and functional players. He is a Certified Personal Trainer by the National Council on Strength and Fitness (NCSF) and has previously completed an internship at Elite Health & Fitness Center in Stoughton. This past summer, he spent a season interning with the Boston Breakers, a professional women's soccer team, where he worked directly under their Head of Strength and Conditioning/Sports Science. He is excited about sharing his experience, skills and passion for training and exercise science with the Elite community!
Sports Performance Coach
Tyler joined Elite as an intern in summer 2017 and is currently enrolled at Bridgewater State University pursing his Bachelors of Science with a concentration in Exercise Science. Before attending Bridgewater State, Tyler played baseball at Franklin Pierce University. Tyler plans to further his education once graduating from BSU to pursue his passion for biochemistry, biomechanics, and exercise physiology. Outside of work, Tyler enjoys spending time with family and friends, and hiking.
