Jonny with his trainer woman

Jonathan Cobb aka. Cobby, 16, a junior from Easton, has been training at Elite since early 2016.  He is currently training in preparation for his upcoming baseball season.  Jonny is one of our most dedicated and down-to-earth athletes you will meet.  He actively participates in everything Elite has to offer — strength training and S.P.A.R. sessions, as well as the Elite/GBG Hawks Friday night workouts at RBI Baseball Academy.

Back in mid-October of 2017, Jonny suffered a season-ending injury requiring surgery and extensive rehab on his elbow (his throwing arm, Jonny’s a righty!)  Osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) or “little league elbow” is a well-defined condition in adolescent athletes, most commonly seen in throwers (pitchers & catchers) and gymnasts (which we do not think Jonny is!)  who partake in repetitive throwing or overhead activities.  After weeks of PT – stretching, range-of-motion and strengthening exercises – Jonny was finally cleared of his brace!  As weeks passed, Jonny demonstrated a high level of focus, determination, and commitment to returning to the diamond.

Jonny, a catcher for the GBG Hawks and the Oliver Ames Tigers, worked hard during his course of rehab with the goal of returning to training, and eventually, baseball.  After months of physical therapy at Elite and a strict return-to-throwing program, Jonny was hungry to “get after it” and regain his level of strength.  After a long and grueling course of physical therapy, we are ecstatic Jonny is back behind the plate and back to pushing his limits on the training floor.  “Elite has always been a powerful motivator when it comes to crushing my workouts.  I feel like I’m 100% a completely different athlete since my injury!  We are all here to show up and become better versions of ourselves; that’s exactly what I felt I have accomplished at Elite!”

It has been our pleasure to work with such a kind, humble and focused athlete over the years.  Jonny is an inspiration to Elite and the younger baseball community, we’ve been honored to be a part of his journey for so long.  Elite is excited to announce Jonny Cobb as our Athlete of the Month for February 2019!  Congratulations, Jonny! We look forward to seeing all of your dedication and hard work in the gym pay off on the diamond this year!
