Boy standing with his trainer

Eric Miles, 13, of Plainville, has been training at Elite Sports Performance and Physical Therapy in Foxboro since January of 2021. Eric came to Elite as an avid basketball player with one goal in mind: “to get stronger on the basketball court.” After a year and a half of training at Elite, Eric has done just that and is more confident in his basketball ability than ever before. Eric plays basketball for Take Charge and has noticed a big difference in his strength on the court, especially when rebounding.

Eric continues to train at Elite in preparation for his first football season this fall. He understands the importance of the personalized strength and conditioning program provided by the Elite coaches that allow him to develop as an athlete and perform at his highest level. He has been training consistently 2x/week under the supervision of Coach Katie McCarthy, BS, CSCS in Elite’s Strength and S.P.A.R. (Speed, Power, Agility, Reaction) sessions. Eric’s favorite exercise is the alternate reverse lunge and he’s learning to love pushups, despite how much he did not enjoy them when he first began training at Elite. Eric also worked hard in the SPAR sessions and has seen significant improvement in his speed and footwork on the court. He believes that although his training at Elite has prepared him to compete at a high level, “there is always room to improve” and is excited to continue to get after it this summer! Check out Eric’s test scores below to see how his training has improved his speed, quickness, and power!

When asked what defines a true athlete, Eric tells us, “A true athlete is someone who works hard, is determined, never gives up and is a good team player.” When asked what advice he might give to younger athletes, he suggests “never stop believing in yourself and always try your best!” Down the road, Eric hopes to continue playing basketball at the college level.

Eric has been training at Elite consistently for over a year and a half, which is a big reason why he’s continued to make gains and see positive results. He tells us that one of the main reasons he’s remained so consistent is because he knows his training has helped him gain strength, speed and power. He also enjoys the small group training environment, training alongside other athletes, and the support he receives from his coaches. Eric said he would highly recommend Elite to his friends and teammates because “Elite has a well balanced program that improves your strength, speed, power, agility, and endurance.”

We’re excited to announce Eric Miles as our Elite Athlete of the Month for June, 2022! Keep getting after it and making us proud!
