Gavin Garnett, 15, of Mansfield, has been training at Elite Sports Performance & Physical Therapy in Foxboro since June, 2022. Gavin came to Elite as a golfer and baseball player looking to improve his strength. Over his time at Elite, Gavin has seen improvements in his golf swing as well as on the baseball diamond. Most notably, he has experienced improvements in his speed, strength, and power. Even with all of his progress, he “always believes that there is room to get faster and stronger leading to more success in my sports.”

Gavin continues to train at Elite to improve his performance in both golf and as a member of his club baseball team with GBG (Garciaparra Baseball Group). Gavin played in all of the matches with the Mansfield High School Golf team and was invited to the Hockomock Golf Championship as a sophomore. With the GBG Northeast Hawks, he has had a lot of success over the years, but his favorite memory is when his team was able to advance in playoffs after one of his game winning hits!

One of Gavin’s goals is to attend college and continue to play baseball at the collegiate level. He understands the importance of the personalized, sport-specific strength and conditioning program provided by the Elite coaches and how his training has helped him perform at a high level. He has been training consistently under the supervision of Coach Katie McCarthy, BS, CSCS and Ben Marsh, MS, CSCS in Elite’s training sessions. Gavin’s favorite exercise is the pull up and he loves to do the spiderman stretch warm-up as well. He continues to work hard to improve his agility and power. He is definitely reaching his goals since during his most recent testing he jumped 2 inches higher on his vertical jump (21.5 in to 23.5 in) and shaved off 0.4 seconds for the pro-agility test (4.91 to 4.50 secs). Check out the rest of his testing scores below!

When asked what defines a true athlete, Gavin tells us a true athlete is “a person that puts everything into their sport.” When asked what advice he might give to younger athletes, he suggests that they “work really hard for everything because it will eventually pay off.” Gavin tells us he enjoys training at Elite because he feels “it is a great place to learn new exercises and meet new people.” Every time he arrives at Elite, he is smiling and tells us he enjoys the environment that is created by the fellow athletes and coaches.

We’re excited to announce Gavin Garnett as our Elite Athlete of the Month for December, 2024! Keep getting after it and making us proud!
